Coco coir is the white or brown fiber derived from the outer husk of a coconut. It is known for its water absorbing nature, strength, and flexibility. Types

- Brown Coir: Brown color indicates ripeness of the harvested coconut. This is obtained when the harvested coconuts are totally ripe. Brown coco coir is highly resistant to sun damage and erosion, and is also quite strong. The most common uses are as floor mats, brushes, padding of upholstery, etc.
- White Coir: White coir is the output of immature coconut fibers. These are much finer and weaker than the brown coir. These coir are most commonly made into yarn, rope, twine, or woven to make cloth mats.
